Laser-cut dragons on black acrylic. The smaller dragon is on 6mm acrylic and was the prototype. 6mm is a little thicker than my laser can cut easily so I tried a thinner piece. The larger dragon is on 3mm acrylic and is 11.5 x 14 inches. Both dragons are set above a blank canvas by a few millimeters for effect. Each piece has strong magnets glued to the back and corresponding magnets behind the canvas.
| Style | Speed | Power | Passes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cut | 3 mm/s | 100% | 3 for 3mm |
| Cut | 3 mm/s | 100% | 5 for 6mm |
The 6mm piece had 5 passes, but needed at least one more. An exacto knife was used to get through the uncut portions. The 3mm piece cut ok at 3 passes.

Laser-engraved line art 3mm basswood. This copy is about 6" across and was used as a birthday card from me to my brother. Sibling rivalry: Year of the Dragon versus Year of the Tiger.
