The North Cache string ensemble, directed by J.W. Pulsipher, will present music, as will a chorus of graduating girls, a brass quartet, a vocal trio, and a chorus of graduating boys. Principal Hicken will present the graduates, while W. Haen Hillyard, president of Smithfield stake, will award diplomas, Prayers will be offered by Fern Condie and Walter Bybee. | Apr 13, 1947 | Provo Herald | Logan Rites Unite Couple One of the most interesting nuptial notes of the spring season is the news of the marriage of Leora Allen, duaghter of Mr. and Mrs. Grover E. Allen, of Cove, Utah, and Floyd K. Giles, son of Mrs. Joseph F. Giles of this city. The April rites were performed by President ElRay Christiansen, in the Logan LDS temple. Present at the temple wedding were Mrs. Grover E. Allen, Mrs. Joseph F. Giles, Mrs. Roy Eskelson and Mr. and Mrs. Leonard N. Giles. A reception honoring the newlyweds was held the same evening at the home of the bride's parents. For her reception, the bride wore a wedding dress of white slipper satin. She carried a bouquet of red roses and daffodils, with a shower of white satin streamers. Welcoming the guests were Mr. and Mrs. Grover E. Allen, Mrs. Joseph F. Giles and the bride and groom. Mrs. Edris Mickelson and Miss Nadean Allen, sisters of the bride, received the gifts and took them to the gift room, which was in charge of Mrs. R. Rex Hickman and Mrs. James C. Schultz, sisters of the groom. The many gifts were displayed with the elaborate trousseau of the bride. Mrs. Ether Allen and Mrs. Levi Allen presided in the dining room. The table was centered with a large wedding cake with flowers and tapers at either end. Serving were Renee Skidmore, Jalaine Albiston, Gayla Rick and Benon Staley. After a brief honeymoon, the couple will live in Provo. The new Mrs. Giles is a graduate of North Cache high school, in Richmond, utah, and is a former student of BYU. Mr. Giles graduated from Provo high school and from Brigham Young university. He was in the U.S. marine corps for four years. |

Johnson, grandmother of the bride who had a corsage of carnations. Mrs. Olson and Mrs. Bullen wore blue and black gowns respectively and corsages of talisman roses. Marilyn Olsen and Rose Marie Bullen, little sisters of the couple were flower girls and wore pink and blue taffeta formal dresses. Others assisting at the tea and wearing formals were Misses Jalaine Albiston, Renee Skidmore, Vea Johnson, Betty Spackman and Carol Merrill of Salt Lake City who received gifts and served refreshments under direction of Mrs. Ivan Christensen, Mrs. Guy Hendricks and Mrs. Elmer Skidmore. Sustained as counselors were Ralph Wadsworth and Charles Craw. Released were Dr. Norman A. Erekson, bishop, Stephen M. Erickson, first counselor and Charles Little, second counselor. Clerks in the new bishopric are Joseph Abram, ward executive secretary; Clair Kidd, ward clerk and Marvin Traveller, financial clerk. Bishop Erickson is the son of Justin E. and Bernice Merrill Erickson of Richmond. He was born and raised in Richmond and graduated from North Cache High School. He attended Utah State University where he majored in vocational agriculture. He filled an LDS mission to Western Canada and served with the U.S. Army for two years where he was stationed at Fr. Sill, Okla. Following his release from service he returned to the family dairy farm where he took over the operation and has been engaged in dairy farming for 15 years. He married the former Karren Greaves of Preston and they are the parents of four children: Dana, Kelly, Paul and Ruthann. Prior to being called as bishop, he served as first counselor to bishop Erekson for four and one-half years and first counselor to bishop Frank Lamb. He has been Elders Quorum president, counselor in the YMMIA and elders group leader while in the U.S. Army. Bishop Erickson is currently serving his first term as a member of the Richmond City Council, director of the Black and White Days' Committee and director of the Richmond Irrigation Company. Following his release from the Army he joined his parents in Phoenix, Ariz., and attended Arizona State University where he graduated with a B.A. degree in Education. He married the former Alta Crater of Phoenix and they are the parents of four children: Mark, Michael, Julie and Joni. Ralph has taught school in Phoenix, Salt Lake City and Lewiston and is currently sales manager at KVNU Radio in Logan. Prior to being called to the bishopric position he served as Benson Stake Executive Secretary and Benson Stake superintendent. Charles Craw is a native of Minersville, Utah where he graduated from Milford High School. He served with the US. Army for two years and graduated from Utah State University in electrical engineering. In 1968 he and his family moved to Richmond and he is currently employed in the Soils and Meteorology Department at Utah State University. Prior to moving to Cache Valley he worked at the Supersonic Research Site in Hurricane and the Lawrence Radiation Laboratory in Las Vegas. He is married to the former Dorothy Cahlin of Milford and they are the parents of five children: Jeffrey, Gay, Tami, Kimberly and Heather. | May 3, 1973 | The Herald Journal | Holly Albiston Has Served 37 Years as Projectionist by Karla Rawlings, Herald Journal Correspondent Richmond - The community theatre in Richmond will hold its last movies for the season on Saturday and when the night is ended Holly Albiston will have completed nearly 37 years as projectionist of the theatre. On Oct 6, 1937, the theatre was opened for business and shows were presented for the first time and Albiston was there on opening night. In the beginning when movies were more popular for the general public, the theater was open four nights a week for two full features. It has now dwindled to a one night stand on Saturday night when at times it appears that the community conducts a glorified baby sitting service. This does not alter Albiston's basic concept that "the community needs to provide the kiddies some means of entertainment". Albiston has worked for eight different mayors since the theatre was first opened as the community building was constructed when Dr. Morris Godfrey was mayor. Prior to this time the movies were held in the "Old Opera House". According to Albiston, very little has changed so far as the machines are concerned, only the quality of the movies. They have changed lamp houses and changed from a low intensity arc to a high intensity arc on the projection machines to facilitate the showing of modern movies. Other than that, the machines are basically the same. For 42 years Albiston was employed at Pet Milk until his retirement in 1968 where he worked as supervisor and shipping clerk. He was born in Richmond and established his own home with his wife Ruby and three daughters: Mrs. Jalaine Robbins, Salt Lake; Mrs. Shirley Larsen, Orem and Mrs. Helen Kidd, Richmond. It seems that everyone loved him because of the service that he has rendered to the community. He is also active in his ward where he was recently sustained executive secretary. He has also been general secretary of the Aaronic Priesthood, members of the elder's quorum presidency and a home teacher. It has now dwindled to a one night stand on Saturday night when at times it appears that the community conducts a glorified baby sitting service. This does not alter Albiston's basic concept that "the community needs to provide the kiddies some means of entertainment". Albiston has worked for eight different mayors since the theatre was first opened as the community building was constructed when Dr. Morris Godfrey was mayor. Prior to this time the movies were held in the "Old Opera House". According to Albiston, very little has changed so far as the machines are concerned, only the quality of the movies. They have changed lamp houses and changed from a low intensity arc to a high intensity arc on the projection machines to facilitate the showing of modern movies. Other than that, the machines are basically the same. For 42 years Albiston was employed at Pet Milk until his retirement in 1968 where he worked as supervisor and shipping clerk. He was born in Richmond and established his own home with his wife Ruby and three daughters: Mrs. Jalaine Robbins, Salt Lake; Mrs. Shirley Larsen, Orem and Mrs. Helen Kidd, Richmond. It seems that everyone loved him because of the service that he has rendered to the community. He is also active in his ward where he was recently sustained executive secretary. He has also been general secretary of the Aaronic Priesthood, members of the elder's quorum presidency and a home teacher. She was the third daughter born the Melvin Harold "Holly" Albiston and Ruby Wilkinson Albiston. Helen lived her entire life in Richmond. She graduated from North Cache High School in 1956. She attended USU and worked at Walker Bank. She married Clair LeGrand Kidd on April 25, 1958 in the Logan LDS Temple. They had three sons. She taught dancing in her home for 20 years. She also worked as an aide at Park School for 16 years. She was an active member of the LDS Church and served in all auxiliaries, but her favorite calling was the ward bulletin which she did diligently for 28 years. Helen liked bowling and dancing, but her true love was softball. She is a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and enjoyed supporting them in their various activities. She loved staying close to home cruising the roads of Richmond. She is survived by her husband Clair, of Richmond, sons Brad (Pam)Kidd, of Springville, Utah; Curt (Nancy) Kidd of Richmond; and Jerry (Angie) Kidd of Richmond; 11 grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren.
